Prof Rashad is a tenured Associate Professor at the Graduate School of Biomedical Engineering, Tohoku University, Japan. His research focuses on post- and epitranscriptional regulation of gene expression and protein homeostasis in neurological disorders. Mainly, he focuses on processes such as alternative splicing, ORF remodeling, RNA modifications and small non-coding RNAs to study the pathologies of diseases such as brain tumors, stroke, and neurodegenerative disorders. Prof Rashad’s work combines multi-omics tools such as RNA-seq (short and long-read), Ribo-seq, tRNA-seq, and LC-MS/MS based analysis of RNA modifications with computational approaches to resolve mRNA translational dysregulation in diseases at the codon level.
