J. (Gus) Gustafson is a PhD candidate in the laboratory of Danny Miller at the University of Washington. His research focuses on the genetic mechanisms underlying rare disease and on the use of long-read sequencing to understand human genetic variation, particularly structural variants. He is currently using PacBio Kinnex RNA sequencing of more than 1,000 transcriptomes from the 1000 Genomes Project to expand the human transcriptomic catalog and investigate novel relationships between genetic variants and transcript isoforms.
