Speaker Bio
Richard Kandasamy, Ph.D. is an Associate Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Biomedical Informatics, and Laboratory Medicine and Pathology at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. He is a systems biologist whose research focuses on unraveling molecular mechanisms underlying inflammatory signaling, cancer progression, and immune-cancer crosstalk through advanced multi-omics and integrative data science approaches. Dr. Kandasamy’s work spans deep molecular characterization of plasma cell dyscrasias such as multiple myeloma, early cancer detection using AI-driven omics models, spatial biology studies of tumor microenvironments, and investigation of the proteometabolic regulation of inflammation. His interdisciplinary research aims to translate high-dimensional biological data into new diagnostics, prognostics, and therapeutics that improve personalized patient care. Dr. Kandasamy has received several honors, including Onsager Fellowship from NTNU, Norway, Mayo Clinic’s Fundamental Mechanisms of Aging Award and the Scholarly Clinician Program Award. He holds a Ph.D. in bioinformatics and biotechnology and has a strong international research background.
