Dr Melissa Nel is the Director of the Clinical Omics and Informatics Unit at the University of Cape Town's Neuroscience Institute, where she leads the integration of genomics into clinical care and research. With a background at the interface of medicine, genomics and bioinformatics, she focuses on translating complex omics data into meaningful insights for rare disease diagnosis. Her work includes building interdisciplinary teams and advancing precision medicine in diverse African populations.
