Jonas Demeulemeester is a Principal Investigator at the VIB-KU Leuven Center for Cancer Biology and Assistant Professor in the Department of Oncology at KU Leuven. He heads the Laboratory of Integrative Cancer Genomics, where his team combines advanced computational biology with single-molecule and single-cell multi-omics to study tumor heterogeneity and somatic evolution.
After obtaining his PhD in Molecular Virology at KU Leuven, Demeulemeester completed postdoctoral research at the Francis Crick Institute in London, focusing on cancer genomics. His work, which includes contributions to the Pan-Cancer Analysis of Whole Genomes (PCAWG) consortium, aims to reconstruct the life history of tumors and uncover the mechanisms driving cancer development and therapy resistance.
