Colette Felton is a postdoctoral scholar of bioinformatics in the Angela Brooks lab at the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC). She received her BS at the University of Washington in biochemistry and microbiology, where she also performed stress and aging research in C. elegans in the Dana Miller lab. She then earned her PhD in bioinformatics at UCSC in the Angela Brooks lab, where she did research on both the association of chromatin accessibility with RNA processing changes and accurate identification of gene fusions and alternative splicing in cancer using long-read RNA-seq data (lrRNA-seq). Her current research focuses on using long-reads to develop a more holistic view of gene alterations and regulation in cancer.
