Dr. Young Jin Kim is a population genomicist whose research focuses on the discovery of genetic variants associated with various diseases, biological aging, and the biostatistical analysis of common complex diseases. He currently serves as the Deputy Scientific Director in the Division of Genome Science, Department of Precision Medicine, at the National Institute of Health, Republic of Korea. Dr. Kim leads the Korean Pangenome Project, an initiative aimed at expanding the current understanding of human genomic diversity by producing high-quality reference genome resources for the Korean population. Previously, he led the Korean Reference Genome Project, analyzing whole-genome sequencing data from approximately 8,000 individuals and contributing valuable resources to studies of population genomics and precision medicine.
