Professor Yasukazu Nakamura is a faculty member in the Division of Informatics at the National Institute of Genetics, Japan, leading the Genome Informatics Laboratory. His research focuses on genome analysis, annotation, database construction, and tool development to enhance genomic data quality. He plays a key role in various species' genome studies, including high-precision genome analysis of cats and dogs for genomic veterinary medicine. He oversees the DNA Data Bank of Japan (DDBJ), which is part of INSDC. As Head of International Affairs, he promotes open data sharing, advances genome annotation and database standards, and fosters global partnerships.
