Nathan earned his Ph. D. at The University of Michigan in 2013 investigating mechanisms of post-transcriptional mRNA regulation via PUF proteins and the interplay between mRNA decay and translational regulation. During his post-doctoral research at the NIH/NICHD (2013-2019) Nathan focused on the biochemistry of tRNA processing, modification, and mRNA regulation in neurodegenerative disease. He used tRNA/mRNA sequencing in combination with ribosome profiling and confocal imaging of rRNA and immune cell invasion to track the progression of cortical degeneration. Nathan is currently a Scientist with Qiagen Product Development in Frederick Maryland working on targeted-capture human long-read sequencing chemistry development.
