Dr. Masha Stromme is a scientist and entrepreneur within the biotechnology sector. She earned her D.Phil/Ph.D. in genetics and neuroscience from Oxford University as a Rhodes Scholar in the late 90s. Her research focused on the molecular mechanisms underlying mitochondrial dysfunction in the developing brain and the degenerating brain. She transitioned from a scientific career to investment banking, working with Morgan Stanley, Altium Capital and Arctic Securities. In the last 10 years, Masha has leveraged her scientific and investment banking expertise to drive success in early stage investing and building companies based on novel technologies. Her current portfolio includes Exact-Tx, a company spun out of GE Healthcare that uses ultrasound technology for targeted drug delivery, Atropos Health, a spin-off of Stanford, focused on making real-world evidence available to clinicians and biopharmas, and ALS-focused companies GenieUs Genomics and Black Swan Biotech an ASO company, focused on advancing precision therapeutics for ALS and other rare neurodegenerative diseases. She is also a mentor at NOME and a jury member of the EIC. Masha's career is marked by a commitment to bridging the gap between cutting-edge science, practical applications and investing. Beyond her professional achievements, she is passionate about mentoring both young scientists and entrepreneurs, fostering the next generation of leaders in biotechnology. She is also involved as speaker and advisor, frequently sharing her insights on precision medicine and investing in biotechnology. Masha and her husband Dag have 4 children and live in Oslo, Norway.
