Frank is a medical geneticist working on the underpinnings of infertility and reproduction. He is the Director of the Centre of Medical Genetics at the University of Münster, which includes the Institute of Reproductive Genetics. He is also the coordinator of the Clinical Research Unit ‘Male Germ Cells’ and the Junior Scientist Research Centre ‘ReproTrack.MS’ and founding member of the ‘International Male Infertility Genomics Consortium’. Frank and his team’s research focusses on the genetic causes of spermatogenic failure causing male factor couple infertility. Using large-scale sequencing, they have identified many novel genes and are scrutinising their function. The aim is to translate these findings into clinical diagnostics and improve the care of infertile couples.
